Carter Lake, Iowa is uniquely located on the West side of the Missouri River immediately north of downtown Omaha, Nebraska. It is a city surrounded on three sides by Omaha and its fourth boundary is the Missouri River. Our lake is approximately 323 acres with the city being approxmiately 2.0 square miles. Carter lake was separated from Iowa by a series of river changes after the city was first settled.

We hope you will find our website useful and informative. We have built the website so that you can get to know us and the services we offer. You may find the Quality of Life link most useful if you have a problem in your neighborhood. Each neighborhood is assigned an officer that will assist residents with problems that affect their quality of life. These problems may be nuisance such as junk cars, disorderly houses, barking or loose dogs and so on.

Police Blotter

          December 28th, 2011

• Motor vehicle accident between Lueretha Haynes who resides at 1634 Victor Avenue in Omaha and William Anderson who resides at 7265 N. 28th Avenue in Omaha.  Accident occured at 100 block of Locust.  No injuries.

• Antonio Montoya who resides at 3510 N. 9th St. Lot 49 was cited and released for not having a valid drivers license or insurance.  Vehicle was impounded.

• Officer arrested Terrance Allen who resides at 1333 Janbrook for writting on a wall in a bedroom with a permanent marker and punching holes through the wall.

• Scott Schamel who resides at 1301 Janbrook reported unknown suspect (s) damaged his fence.

• Amy Lesley who resides at 1318 Mayper reported unknown suspect (s) used her credit card in the amount of $1,200.00.  Transaction took place in New York City.

• Lisa Nguyen who resides at 808 S. 21st St. #10 reported her ex-boyfriend Austin Nordman who resides at 1021 Cachelin Drive jumped on the hood of her car and caused damage to it.  Under investigation.

• Shannon Miller who resides at 649 Parkwild Dr. F-8 in Council Bluffs was cited and released for not having a valid drivers license or insurance.  Vehicle was impounded.

• Ned Callan who resides at 3714 Neptune Circle reported  unknown suspect (s)  shot at his vehicle causing damage. 

• Officer was dispatched to Kwik Shop located at 1202 Locust Street for a property damage accident.  Vickie Johnson who resides at 1016 Park Avenue #221 in Omaha was driving through the lot when Robyn Garrett who resides at 3227 Lafayett Avenue in Omaha backed into her car.  Information was exchanged.

          January 9th, 2012

• Calvin Philmon who resides at 368 Oswego Street in Aurora, Colorado reported while staying at the Super 8 Motel located at 3000 Airport Road he forgot his firearm in his room.  Officer talked to the Manager of Super 8 and he stated he did have the gun.  Officer secured the weapon and called the owner.

• Douglas Bower who resides at 1507 Neptune Circle reported his garage that he rents at 1322 Walker was broken into.  Air Compressor and two motorcycle's were taken.  Under investigation.

• Rachel Knipe who resides at 1111 Hiatt reported unknown party or parties smashed out her window to her mother's car.  Report was taken.

          January 16th, 2012

• Justin Weirich who resides at 14613 Curtis Avenue in Omaha reported while visiting a girlfriend at 1434 Linwood, her ex-boyfriend Travis Brown showed up and punched Mr. Weirich in the face.  Under investigation.

• Officer arrested Margaret Marsh who resides at 1001 Avenue K for an outstanding warrant for Burglary 3rd and Theft 5th.

• Marcy Hawkins who resides at 900 Avenue R was banned for 6 months from the Carter Lake Community Presbyterian Church located at 3030 N. 9th Street.

• Jennifer McCart who resides at 1005 N. 49th Avenue in Omaha reported Lucas Glouser who resides at 5218 N. 12th Street in Omaha dropped her off at Sarie's Club and never returned with her vehicle.  A stolen vehicle report was filed.

• Richard Steinspring who resides at 1301 Holiday Drive reported sometime on Friday, January 13th, 2012 unknown party or parties got into his pickup located in his driveway and took several items.
